Lion's Roar

2016-17 School Year Calendar

From the Principal's Desk

Hello Everyone,

It's time to say good bye to the joys of summer and hello to the opportunities of a new school year. We are very excited to work together again and see how all our students have grown and changed over the summer.

It is with great joy that we welcome back all our returning families as well as the new families joining us. We hope all of you know that you are part of the CCS family. We are eager to get to know you better and work together in training up your children in the way God designed them to grow.

This year we are inaugurating 9th and 10th grades at Centralia Christian School. Mr. Peter Fulton and Mr. Lee Hoium will be teaching in our new high school program. Mr. Fulton has 50 years of classroom experience and comes to us from Northwest Christian High School in Lacey. Mr. Hoium, a veteran of CCS, will be returning to coach our students in the online portion of their curriculum.

We also are delighted to have Mrs. Joy Phillips as our new preschool teacher. She comes to us from Centralia College where she taught for the past 9 years in their Children's Lab School for preschool.

You also will notice some exciting new security upgrades to our facility. Mr. Todd Hansen, his crew, and parent volunteers have been working with dedication to install fencing all around the perimeter of our campus. It is almost complete. We really appreciate all their hard work on this endeavor.

Additionally, Mr. Aaron Cushman, our Maintenance Supervisor, has spent many hours building and installing a new interior computerized security door at out main entrance. Thank you to all who supported our Call From the Heart at last year's auction. It is with these funds we were able to add these security measures.

As you can see, God is providing well for Centralia Christian School as He always does. Thank you Lord.                                                                                                       We look forward to seeing you at the Parent Only orientation for Kindergarten through Tenth Grade on Thursday, September 1.

SALT  Opportunities

We have a few SALT opportunities available if you would like to start getting those hours in. They would all fall under the Grounds Maintenance category if you would like to give the office a call.

L-TIP   Lion Tuition Incentive Program

CCS Foundation sponsors a scrip program, called L-TIP which allows you to purchase prepaid gift cards from local and national retailers.  The cards you purchase through the program generate rebates which can be used as a credit to your tuition account, cash back to you, and/or a tax-deductable gift to the school.  The program is convenient and easy.  Order your scrip cards on Monday and pick them up in the office the next Friday.   Go to to set up an account with CCS's enrollment code 668LL6A31 LL48.  Contact Cara Radtke at for more information.

We are continuing to use Shoparoo this year for a hassle-free fundraiser for CCS.  All you need to do is take pictures of your grocery receipts with the Shoparoo app made for your smart phone. It doesn't matter where you shop or what you buy - every receipt submitted results in a donation to our school!

Medicine At School

If your child will be taking any prescription medicine at school (including inhalers), we will need a current Authorization To Dispense Medication form from your child's doctor to administer it. (This form needs to be renewed each year and can be faxed to us.) This form will also apply to over-the-counter medications that are prescribed by your child's doctor. Please begin now to have this form ready for the start of the school year.

We also ask that you NOT send any non-prescription medicines (Tylenol, cough drops, etc.) to school with your child, even if they're capable of taking medicine by themselves. This will ensure that medicine won't accidentally get into the wrong hands.

By state law, school personnel can't administer over-the-counter medications (unless prescribed.) However, you or your authorized representative may come to school to dispense these medications. Thanks for keeping our kids safe and healthy.

If you have questions about medication at school, please contact the school office.

All students will need the required immunizations to enter school this fall. Please

BE SURE to have your child up to date BEFORE the start of school

For returning families, you may let the office know of any new immunizations your child has gotten recently or gets this summer and we will update your form with this new information.

For new families, immunization (CIS) forms must be completed, signed by a parent (we're sorry, copies of their shot record can not be accepted in place of this form), and returned to school before or on the first day of class. Your student needs to be fully immunized or have a signed exemption on file (this is now a separate form, available at the health department or the school office). Thank you for attending to this important paperwork!!

Parents Please Note:

Printouts of the CIS form from your health care provider are perfectly acceptable for students for whom we are requesting immunization records, provided the parent has signed the form.  Just have your Health Care Provider office print the most current CIS record, sign and drop it at the school office!  AGAIN THIS YEAR!! We will have Mrs. Meg Gregory, a registered nurse, on site during Parent Orientation Night to download your student's CIS if you need to, and to assist you with any other questions you may have!  (Thanks once again, Meg!)

Parents of New CCS Students!

Don't forget that the school office will need a copy of your student's birth certificate on file by the first day of school! You can bring them to be copied Thursday night, Sept. 1st if you'd like!

Did you know that there are 3 ways to pay your tuition?

-CHECK - Write a check to the school each month and deliver it to the school office.

-CREDIT CARD - Go to to pay by credit card.

-ACH AUTOMATIC WITHDRAWL - Fill out a ACH authorization to have your monthly payment automatically made for you.

Contact the office if you have any questions about any of these payment options.  Don't forget that payments need to be received by the 10th of each month.
