Whether or not we like it, inclement weather is usually a part of our Northwest winters. When this happens, it is often necessary to delay the start of school or cancel school altogether. The only way we can let our CCS families know of schedule changes in a timely manner is through our website, local radio stations and KING 5 TV station. It would be a good idea to keep watching/listening if inclement weather (which may include snow, ice, heavy rains or wind) is even predicted, as our families reside as far away as Oakville, Toledo and Olympia. Even if the weather isn't bad in your area, it could be bad enough in other areas to warrant school delay, early dismissal or closure. Media that should broadcast our schedule changes include:

www.centraliachristianschool.org

KITI - 1420 AM

LIVE 95 95.1 FM

KELA - 1470 AM or KELA online at www.kelaam.com

KMNT - 104.3 FM

KING 5 NEWS

Our goal is to announce a delay or closure of school between 6:05AM and 6:30AM. Please DO NOT call the radio stations or school staff! If the initial decision is to run school two hours late, parents are advised to KEEP WATCHING/LISTENING in case weather conditions deteriorate enough to warrant closure. Should early release from school be required, we will try to give two hours notice. It is preferred that parents not call the school office to ask if school will be dismissed early. If there is a concern, parents should feel free to come pick up their child without calling the school in advance. This enables us to keep the phone lines clear for emergency calls. Thank You!

Review of the procedure for delay/closure decisions:

  1. By 6:30AM the decision is made to follow Centralia School District or not
  2. Email notice is then sent to CCS webmaster, MIXX96.1 and KING5 News
  3. KELA, KMNT, KITI, and KACS are called
  4. Remember, if we start late, keep listening and check the website to see if a closure is decided.

Special Notes:

If we have a late start to school, there will be NO HOT LUNCH and NO BEFORE SCHOOL CARE on that day.

Afterschool activities and/or meeting changes will be posted on the website so you can easily refer to it for information on changes or cancellations.
